Meet our new Obsidianite, Murray Lace!
We’ve got a new member on our full-time team at Obsidian PR! Murray Lace, who originally joined our firm as a level 2 intern over the summer, recently was promoted to account assistant at the firm. She’s yet another great testament to the wonderful employees who have come from our internship program. So, let’s get to know her a little better!
Where are you from? Where’d you go to school?
I am from a small town in Arkansas that you’ve probably never heard of—Wynne. There’s a Walmart Supercenter… and a Walmart Supercenter.
I went to college at the University of Arkansas. There is nothing I love more than Razorback Athletics and Fayetteville scenery. The Ozark Mountains are absolutely beautiful, especially in the fall.
What was your degree in?
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising and public relations with a minor in communications.
Why do you love PR?
I love to write, which makes public relations the perfect field for me. I also like that there is no typical day in the industry; I get to interact with a variety of people on a regular basis.
What was it about Obsidian that appealed to you?
Obsidian appealed to me because of its location and the type of clients on their roster. Being from northeast Arkansas, I was familiar with the Memphis area and many of the clients they serve, which made the transition from college to the real world a smooth one.
What types of clients do you work with at Obsidian?
My clients are mainly in the food/restaurant, health care, law and arts sectors.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Memphis so far?
I love sports, so I enjoy going to Memphis Redbirds games. Now that their season is over, I am looking forward to checking out Grizzlies games as well.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy working out, watching sporting events and traveling.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to new grads when it comes their careers in PR?
DO NOT sell your AP Stylebook back to the campus bookstore.
