Inside OPR

Staff Spotlight – Christina Babu

If you ask our team who we should go to for all things food, music and culture, they’d likely tell you Christina! Christina joined our team two years ago, and we haven’t looked back. A native Memphian, Christina moved to the Midwest for college, and then took her talents to the Big Apple. After more than five years in the city, Christina headed home and took on a role as an internal communication specialist. Now at Obsidian, Christina works with a wide variety of clients. Get excited to learn a little more about her!

Where in Memphis did you have the best bite in the past year?

Catherine & Mary’s. I recommend their Agnolotti pasta, followed by an order of coconut panna cotta. I tried it a couple months ago and I still have dreams about it.

Coziest rainy day activity?

Binge watching old TV shows. Currently, it’s Cheers. I’ve developed a weird thing for Ted Danson recently. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Holidays are quickly approaching! What’s on the top of your gift list?

A fun piece of artwork for my new house.

What’s your favorite PR tactic to execute?

Media pitching. It’s also my least favorite, though! It’s very rewarding when a client has a great story in the news.

What’s a recent industry shift that’s surprised you?

Photos and videos are essential to nearly every piece of communication we execute. People’s attention spans are extremely limited these days, so multimedia is more effective when sharing your message.

In your opinion, what’s the biggest misconception about the PR industry?

That we’re a bunch of “spin doctors” and liars.

Way-too-early Super Bowl prediction – who do you have?

Tennessee Titans! A girl can hope, right?!

What’s one trip you’re dying to take?

A hike to the ruins of Machu Picchu!
