Inside OPR

Staff Spotlight: Lauren Hannaford

Our director of client services, Lauren Hannaford, started at Obsidian as an intern nearly 10 years ago. During her tenure at Obsidian, Lauren’s honed her professional skills and has become our go-to source for OPR history. If you’re one of our clients, you probably know her well. But, you might not know what she plans to do when she hits the lottery!

We’ve asked Lauren a few questions, some personal and some work-related, so you could learn a little more about her.

It’s a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon, what are you doing?

Assuming Charlie is napping, I would be under the covers watching Hulu/Netflix.

What’s been the biggest surprise in your professional career?

You cannot please everyone all of the time, but you sure can try.

Tell us about a time when you did something you thought you’d never do.

PR for a president. When we worked with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis on the 2016 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, part of my job was to confirm interviews with former President Jimmy Carter for local media. I’ll likely never do that again in my professional career, so I’ll always remember it. The entire project was an amazing experience.

What’s something in your wardrobe you cannot live without?

A sweatshirt!

You win $5 million in the lottery. What are the first three things you purchase?

Probably the typical things! House, car, invest and give back, and go on a vacation.

If you weren’t in PR, what do you think you’d be doing?

I’d probably be working for a nonprofit in some capacity.

January is the best because…

It means more hot chocolate.

What’s your go-to cold weather meal?

Different variations of chili, for sure.

An ideal client is…

One who understands what we do, why we do it and why they need it.

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would you watch?

Harry Potter. Can I combine all into one? Never gets old.
