Inside OPR

Step into the spotlight with Carlee

When you need to revamp your playlist, find fun activities around town or brighten your day with cute puppy pics, Carlee is your go-to gal! She’s been rocking with Obsidian for more than three years now. We chat about what she’s been up to in this month’s staff spotlight.

Like many of us, you began your journey at OPR as an intern. What’s been your biggest lesson learned since you joined the team?

My biggest lesson learned since joining the team is what I feel sets OPR apart from other agencies – it’s OK to ask questions. In fact, we’re encouraged to ask them! Even after three years, there is always a team member ready to share some insight if I have an issue with a program or question about a certain topic.

‘Tis the season…spooky season that is! What are your top three must-watch Halloween movies?

Halloween is my favorite holiday – in fact, I start decorating Aug. 1! My three must-watch Halloween movies are:

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas.
  2. The Shining.
  3. The Silence of the Lambs.

Humble brag. What’s your PR superpower?

I’d have to say my PR superpower is social media management. From crafting content and creating graphics to scheduling and reviewing analytics, I love the whole process!

What are you predicting your Spotify Wrapped playlist will look like?

I’m predicting my top song will either be Plastic Hearts by Miley Cyrus or drunk face by Machine Gun Kelly. But recently The Band CAMINO’s new album has been on repeat, so that could change!

What is one task that every intern or junior should try to tackle before leveling up?

The one task I feel every junior should try before moving up is a PR timeline. It’s one thing to understand how to complete a task, but grasping the why behind it is crucial to becoming a successful PR professional.

What was your most memorable Halloween costume?

I’ve had a few – Hannah Montana (blonde wig and all), Ke$ha, Wonder Woman – but my favorite was when I went as Cruella de Vil in 2019. I put my own spin on it and had so much fun!

What is one program that you use in your day-to-day that you could not live without?

Google Sheets, 100%! I make Google Sheets for everything at this point. You’ll probably think I’m a little crazy (because I am), but I enjoy creating them!
