With the ever-changing news cycle, it can be hard to stay on top of the latest news. It doesn’t help that there are so many news channels to consume that it can seem overwhelming. Whether you’re looking for a deep dive into the news or a quick read while you’re on the go, there’s something for you! Obsidian compiled our favorite (and quickest) ways to stay informed!
#1 Social Media
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the top-ranking way for us to keep up with the news is with social media. Social media allows us to track what’s trending, quickly read posts and find articles from multiple news outlets. What’s our office favorite? Twitter! With hashtags, the trending page and push notifications, Twitter is an easy way to get news quickly and stay updated on everything happening on the internet.
With a 24-hour news cycle, there is always something new to broadcast. TV is an easy way to stay updated as news comes through! There are so many news shows out there, but some of our favorites include Good Morning America, ABC Nightly News, World News Tonight and our local news affiliates. These broadcasts air daily and give us the information we need to know as it happens!
Podcasts are a great tool we like to use while we’re on the go! They help you take in the news without having to stop and read, and they offer a variety of ways to listen. There are thousands of news podcasts out there, but some of our favorites are NPR Up First, The Daily by The New York Times, BBC Global News and Unfilter. Whether you’re looking for political news, current events or lifestyle news, there’s a podcast out there for you!
#4 Curated News
Sometimes it’s easier for someone else to find the news and tell us what’s most important. Some great curated newsletters include The New York Times’ daily briefing and TheSkimm. These two newsletters give us a quick and easy-to-read update about the most important news happening around the world without having to read full articles on each topic. Other curated news platforms include Apple News, Yahoo News, Google News and so many more!
Keeping up with the news doesn’t have to be hard! Do you have another way you like to keep up with headlines?
