If you’re looking for a partner to tackle a project with a positive attitude, look no further than Jenna. Her kind and accommodating personality made her an instantaneous fit on our team, and we’ve loved having her since her days as an intern in 2018. It’s an added bonus whenever her English bulldog, Sugar, makes surprise visits to our dog-loving office. 

But a lot has changed in the world since Jenna graduated from Mississippi State and started working at Obsidian. As she’s closing in on her second year with the firm, you might wonder what Jenna’s been up to! Learn more in this month’s staff spotlight. 

1. Where’s your favorite picnic spot in Memphis?
   1. The pandemic has definitely made finding extracurriculars more of a challenge. Luckily, I’ve had the best company to share my time with. When we’re bored, we set up a picnic in the same spot in Overton Park – by the columns – crack open a bottle of wine and enjoy the last bit of the day’s vitamin D. 
2. What is one type of project you love to do for clients?
   1. To me, one of the most rewarding projects in PR is media relations! I love the process of brainstorming relevant, unique topics for my clients to share their expertise and hooking the media to make them equally excited about sharing my clients’ stories. 
3. If you had to give up one social media platform personally, which would you give up and why?
   1. If I had to give up a social platform, it would easily be Facebook. I’d definitely say it’s the most “controversial” platform, and to be honest, I’ve had a bone to pick with it since it took MySpace’s place. 
4. What is one easy thing that most businesses could do to enhance their public relations efforts?
   1. One thing that I think most businesses don’t often consider important (until it is) is constantly keeping your photo bank fresh and full. With pretty much any business, good photos are a great tool to enhance follower engagement, increase interest in media opportunities and boost your brand’s portfolio. 
5. What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your time at Obsidian? 
   1. The biggest lesson I’ve learned from working at Obsidian over the last two years is to not be afraid to ask questions. No question is dumb – no matter what you may tell yourself. Ensuring you have the right information saves you a lot of headache, and potentially heartache. 
6. What is one thing (event, holiday, etc.) that you’re looking forward to in the last few months of 2020?
   1. I’m eager for several things, including, like many, the end of 2020! But, before that, I’m happy I get to celebrate my favorite holiday (Halloween) on a Saturday this year. My roommate has a wrestling gig at the Rec Room, and we’re going to dress up, have fun and watch some 901 Wrestling.
