Kelly Cook

Level 1 Intern

Kelly found her love for writing at a very early age. In elementary school, she would write creatively for fun, and that turned into helping friends with their papers in high school. After growing up in Memphis her entire life, choosing a university to attend came naturally. Soon after her start at the University of Memphis (go Tigers!), Kelly discovered another love: communication. After taking her first journalism course, Kelly found the field of public relations to be the perfect world for her passions of storytelling, communication and helping others.

At the U of M, Kelly serves as the vice president of the Public Relations Student Society of America. She also serves on the executive boards of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and St. Jude Up ’til Dawn, where she raises money and awareness on campus for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As an Obsidian PR intern and current junior at the U of M, Kelly hopes to sharpen the skills she’s learned in the classroom and use them in real-life circumstances. She loves the fast-paced world that is PR and is excited to see where the next few years take her. In her free time, Kelly enjoys the occasional Netflix binge, spending time with friends, and exploring new places in Memphis. She thinks a day is never wasted if she’s learning and meeting new people.
