As a child, Crissy thought she wanted to be one of three things: a marine biologist, an interior designer or a rock star. Well, realizing she would rather keep her toes in the sand and steer clear of numbers pretty much ruled out the first two. Rock star was still on the table for many years (playing guitar and piano are still two of her loves), but eventually, she used her “star” quality for a different path – helping companies shine through public relations.
A native of Laurel, Mississippi, Crissy graduated from Mississippi State University and started her career in Memphis in the nonprofit world in 2002. After a year with The Blues Foundation, she went on to work in development and community relations at a growing nonprofit called Youth Villages. Agency life eventually called her name, and Crissy found her way to Obsidian in 2008, where she’s been an integral part of our firm ever since. Having such long tenure within an agency has its perks; you’ll be hard-pressed to find an industry with which Crissy is unfamiliar. She now applies her years of experience to managing a portion of our team, clients and operations as director of client services.
When she’s not at Obsidian, Crissy most enjoys the chaos of family life, including spending time with her husband, John, and kids Max, Lizzie Claire, Jack and Sarah. Running is a big deal for her family (see MemphisRunningTours.com). Perfecting the art of the road trip is a goal of hers, especially when it comes to their annual beach trip to California (where she keeps her toes in the sand and daydreams of the beach house she will decorate one day).
